2010 Hennessey's US Paddleboard Championships

Redondo Beach, California - Saturday, July 10, 2010


On Saturday, July 10, 2010, Hennessey’s Taverns of California is proud to host the Hennessey’s Paddleboard Festival. We have an exciting 9-mile race course that begins and ends at Avenue I in Redondo Beach, with the Body Glove yacht leading the way! This promises to be a fun-filled event with top competitors hailing from across the United States. This is an open-ocean, near-shore race. Support boats and lifeguard jet skis will be in the water for your safety. Additionally, we have a new course for the stand up paddlers, as well as the Junior Lifeguard races.

In the race tradition of Hennessey’s Taverns and the Southern California Paddleboard Club, a full-blown luau will follow the race behind HT Grill on Catalina and Avenue I in Redondo Beach. Come listen to great music and enjoy the award ceremony, plate lunch, and massive raffle immediately following the race.

Course
The race begins at Avenue I in Redondo Beach at 7:30 AM SHARP
Water start and beach finish.
Board Classes:
  • Stock Paddleboard (12’and under – no weight limit, no rudders.
  • 14' Paddleboard
  • Unlimited Paddleboard
  • 12'6 & Under Stock Stand Up -(No Rudder)
  • 14' Stand Up (No Rudder)
  • Unlimited Stand Up – Any size, anything goes

Prize Money Breakdown:
  • 1st Place - $350
  • 2nd Place - $250
  • 3rd Place - $150
Trophies:
All official finishers will receive a custom trophy.
Schedule:
  • Check-in and final registration begins at 6:00 am at Avenue I in Redondo Beach.
  • Once you’ve checked in you will receive your race jersey.
  • Goodie bags given after the race.
  • Race will begin at 7:30 AM - SHARP
Registration:
Entry Fee: $75
  • Pre-register by mail by July 5, 2009 (Enter early to guarantee goody bag! )
  • Late entries $90 after July 5th
  • Late entries will be accepted until July 10th at 6:30 am.
  • Entry fee includes lunch, finisher awards, board shorts and a race T-shirt.


Elgibility - Open to men and women at least 18 years of age. (17 & under must have signed parental/guardian form.) Race director reserves the right to refuse participation to entrants for any reason.
Post Race BBQ & Awards:
The awards banquet will feature a luau with live entertainment.
