2011 Hennessey's US Paddleboard Championships

Hennessey’s Taverns of California is proud to host the Hennessey’s United States SUP and Paddleboard Championships. We have an exciting 8.5 mile race course that begins and ends at Avenue I in Redondo Beach, with the Body Glove yacht leading the way! This promises to be a fun-filled event with top competitors hailing from across the United States. This is an open-ocean, near-shore race and we are going back to the old R-10 buoy-run course for our main event. There will also be a 3-mile Fun race available for novices. No age groups, unlimited, stock, 14’ and Wahine only. Support boats will be in the water for your safety. Additionally, we have a new course called Birdie’s race for the stock paddleboards that will be a six-mile, three-lap, in and out of the water race. As always, we’ll be running the ever popular Junior Lifeguard races.

In the race tradition of Hennessey’s Taverns and the Southern California Paddleboard Club, a full-blown luau will follow the race behind HT Grill on Catalina and Avenue I in Redondo Beach. Come listen to great music and enjoy the award ceremony, plate lunch, and massive raffle immediately following the race.

The race begins at Avenue I in Redondo Beach at 8:30 AM SHARP
Water start and beach finish.

WPA Qualifier:
Hennessey’s, in association with the World Paddle Association, is conducting and sanctioning the U.S. Paddle Championships and the World Championships. World Championship qualifying spots for the SUP races will be available and given to 30% of the entries for each board division from the U.S. Championships race. The qualifying criteria and updated list of qualifiers will be posted on the WPA website. For inquiries please e-mail info@worldpaddleassociation.com.
Schedule:
  • Check-in and final registration begins at 6:00 am at Avenue I in Redondo Beach.
  • Once you’ve checked in you will receive your race jersey.
  • Goodie bags given after the race.
  • Race will begin at 8:30 AM - SHARP
Registration:
Entry Fee: $75
  • Pre-register by mail or on line by July 8, 2011 (Enter early to guarantee goody bag! )
  • Late entries $100 after July 8th
  • Late entries will be accepted until July 9th at 7:30 am.
  • Entry fee includes lunch, finisher awards, board shorts and a race T-shirt.


Elgibility - Open to men and women at least 18 years of age. (17 & under must have signed parental/guardian form.) Race director reserves the right to refuse participation to entrants for any reason.
Post Race BBQ & Awards:
The awards banquet will feature a luau with live entertainment.
