2010 Hennessey's International Championships

On Saturday, September 25th, Hennessey’s Taverns of California will host the Hennessey’s International Paddleboard Championships in the beautiful city of San Diego!

Come check out this new venue as we race a nine-mile course that begins and ends at the beach in front of the Polynesian-style Catamaran Resort Hotel. A shorter, six-mile course will be run for the stock SUPs, as well as a three-mile Fun Run event for novice paddlers and stand ups. Additionally, we will include the first annual Lifeguard Bragging Division! The event promises to be an excellent, half bay, half open ocean race with top competitors hailing from around the world! Support boats and lifeguard jet skis will be in the water for your safety. Come mingle with top racers from around the world and visit our Sponsor Expo.

Come join us on Friday 9/24 from 6 to 9 pm at Hennessey’s in Pacific Beach, just a short walk from The Catamaran, to mix and mingle with your fellow racers. At that time, race registration and rash-guard pickup will be available, as well.

Fun Paddle - 3 Miles
Pro Course - Paddleboard, 14' & Unlimited SUP - 9 miles / Stock SUP - 6 Miles

  • Stock Paddleboard (12’and under – no weight limit, no rudders.
  • Unlimited Paddleboard
  • 12'6 & Under Stock Stand Up -(No Rudder)
  • 14' Stand Up (No Rudder)

Safety:
  • You must bring your own liquid and nutrition on your board. Lifeguards and safety escorts will be in the water for duration of race if needed.
  • Any paddler who is having difficulty may be taken out of the water at the race director’s discretion.
  • The race will be called after four hours. Any paddler who does not complete the race within four hours will be taken out of the water.
Pro Course Awards:
Cash Prizes:
In every Pro Course class and Pro Course age group, the first three in get paid as noted below. In addition, the first overall Unlimited and Stock paddlers in, as well as the first overall Unlimited, 14, and Stock SUPs in, will receive a $600 bonus. The first overall Wahine paddler and the first overall Wahine SUP finishers will also each receive a $600 bonus.

Prize Money Breakdown:

  • 1st Place - $250
  • 2nd Place - $150
  • 3rd Place - $100

Awards will be given out at dinner banquet.

All official finishers will receive a custom trophy.

Fun Course Awards:
Awards given to top three finishers in Stock/Unlimited/Wahine paddleboard and SUP divisions (18 total winners).

Schedule:
  • Register at Hennessey’s Pacific Beach Friday night between 6 & 9 pm.
  • Check-in and final registration begins at 6:30 am at the race site.
  • Once you’ve checked in you will receive your race jersey. Goodie bags given after the race.
  • Race starts at 8:30am SHARP!!!
Registration:
  • Pro Course $100
  • Fun Course $50 (or $100 includes the sit-down awards banquet )
  • Late Pro Course Entries $125
  • Late entries will be accepted until September 25th at 6:30 am.
  • Pro Course Entry fee includes goodie bag, finisher awards and a full sit-down banquet at the Catamaran Resort.
  • Fun Course Entry fee includes goodie bag, and finisher awards
  • Pre-register by mail by Sept. 21, 2010. If you are unsure your application will make the mail-in cutoff, please don’t send it! We will not be able pick up mail after this date. Late entries will be accepted on Fri at Hennessey’s Pacific Beach or on race day, for $125.


Elgibility- Open to men and women at least 18 years of age. (17 & under must have signed parental/guardian form. No prize money for this category.) Race director reserves the right to refuse participation to entrants for any reason.
Post Race & Awards:
Relax and enjoy the pool at the resort before joining us for our cocktail hour on the beach at 6 pm in front of the Catamaran, followed by the sit-down awards banquet at the Resort at 7 pm.
